AMM Artist Spotlight: Christopher Charveriat
CHRISTOPHER CHARVERIAT was born and raised in Paris, France, in Marrakech, Morocco, at the Chateau de Chaillouvres in Chaneins, France, and in Beziers. Charveriat studied for two years at Beaux Art in Paris, then studied interior design at Ecole Camondo in Paris, then studied architecture in Barcelona at EPC. Charveriat worked as an architect in Paris for ten years before moving to New York.
Charveriat’s diverse upbringing and studies all lend themselves to his intriguing brand of works which are in oil, photography, and his mixed media assemblage of sculptures and mixed media paintings. He has further developed his own unique style of geometric abstract art with colors using fabric as well as other various materials inspired by landscapes, light, architecture and graphic design.
Charveriat’s subject matters range from insightfully vivid and poignant approaches to art and cultural icons such as Frida Khalo, Jean Michel Basquiat, and Serge Gainsbourg, to his expressively and hauntingly beautiful 4 Seasons, or poignant and powerful Angry Boy.
He currently lives in Sag Harbor, in the Hamptons, New York, with his wife Lynn Park Charveriat, who is also an artist, and their two children.
Christopher and Lynn often work together on paintings and art works, as well engage in cultural and philanthropic endeavors.
