Jeff Koons derives inspiration from things you might find at a yard sale: inflatable plastic toys, vacuum cleaners, porcelain trinkets and other items not typically considered fine art. In fact, when he was in Vegas donating his time for the inspiring Power of Love Gala, he took a short road trip to the “Neon Junkyard”, where he scoured for relics of old Las Vegas.
At the Power of Love Gala, the first auction item of the night was presented by Jeff Koons. Koons gave away a trip for 10 to his New York studio, followed by dinner with the artist himself. The package went for close to $300, 000.
