AMM Philanthropy Spotlight: Alice Cooper
Alice Cooper is an American rock musician and songwriter who has released songs since the 1970s. He is not only rocking the world with his music, but in 1995 he founded Solid Rock with Chuck Savale and his wife Sheryl Cooper. Solid Rock is a nonprofit organization whose entire proceeds go towards the funding of Alice Cooper’s Rock Teen Center. The Teen Center hosts ages 12-20 and first opened in Phoenix, Arizona in 2012 but has since expanded to Mesa, Arizona and soon to Goodyear, Arizona this year. The center’s mission is to guide teens to find the best in themselves by offering complimentary classes in music and arts while supplying a safe space to become comfortable with their self-expression. “We are fulfilling a vision we’ve had for several years…to provide teens with a central place to learn, have fun, and explore their creativity in a supportive and safe environment,” said Cooper on Solid Rock’s website. Although Cooper is busy touring and working on music, he manages to pop in whenever he is in town and perform at some of the center’s special events. Alice Cooper transformed the world of heavy metal and is putting that expertise to evolve the lives of teenagers in Arizona.
